In 1848 a young watchmaker, Louis Brandt, opened a small workshop in the small Swiss village of La Chaux-de-Fonds. It was here that the 3-year-old began the company that was to become OMEGA. OMEGA AND THE WORLD OF SPACE EXPLORATION

The OMEGA Speedmaster has been associated with some of
mankind’s greatest extra-terrestrial achievements and has been a favourite amongst astronauts and space agencies for more than half a century. The Speedmaster launched into fame when it became the first watch worn on the Moon in July 1969. It’s official space legacy started in 1965 when NASA qualified it for use on its piloted missions. Since then, it has been worn on all six lunar landings and has earned the iconic nickname “the Moonwatch”.

THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY

George Clooney was just a boy when his hero Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon. Nearly 50 years later, the two legends of space and screen finally met. OMEGA was right there to capture the moment as they headed to the cinema to relive their personal memories. In 2017, OMEGA is proudly celebrating 60 years of the Speedmaster. First known for its precision, strength and reliability, it’s incredible to think that this sports chronograph has now evolved to become an icon of space exploration and style.
