Breitling's legacy is deeply intertwined with the history of flight - from the pioneering first takeoffs to the birth of commercial air travel. In the 1930s, their Huit Aviation department gained recognition for inventing precision cockpit clocks, while their Ref. 765 AVI watch became a revolutionary wearable flight instrument. Today, the Classic AVI collection pays homage to the rugged and adventurous spirit of early aircraft, with the Classic AVI Curtiss P-40 Warhawk honouring one of these iconic legends.
Originally intended for use as a pursuit aircraft, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk took its first flight in 1938 and quickly earned a reputation for its remarkable agility. Not only did its high manoeuvrability allow for stunning aerial manoeuvres, but its sturdy construction also made it resistant to harsh weather and mid-air collisions. The Warhawk's iconic shark-mouth nose art solidified its status as a daring and rebellious aircraft. The Classic AVI Curtiss P-40 Warhawk watch, specifically designed for pilots and their vintage cockpits, boasts easily readable Arabic numerals on both the dial and bezel. The knurled bezel of the 42mm case offers a secure grip, even when wearing gloves. A top-stitched calfskin strap pays tribute to traditional flight gear, while a stainless steel bracelet provides a more sophisticated option.
This watch offers exceptional legibility, comfort, and understated elegance for pilots and travellers. The Breitling Calibre 23 movement, certified by COSC, powers the Classic AVI and provides up to 48 hours of reserve.
