This watch is a nod to the original Grand Seiko mechanical 9S watch from 1998, drawing inspiration from the environment of the Grand Seiko Shizukuishi studio where their skilled Takumi artisans handcraft the mechanical timepieces.
The 40mm 'Icefall' case is made of High-Intensity Titanium, an alloy that is 30% lighter than stainless steel and offers greater resistance to corrosion. This type of titanium has a luminous shine that sets it apart from other grades used in the industry, and it can be expertly polished to a flawless mirror finish. Plus, it has a higher level of hardness compared to pure titanium.
The icy blue dial of this watch draws inspiration from the stunning 'icefall' phenomenon observed when the natural springs near Mount Iwate freeze in the cold winter air. For centuries, the plentiful water sources in Shizukuishi have sustained the local community and played a crucial role in the establishment of the watch studio in this picturesque setting.
This 40mm watch is equipped with the in-house 9S85 Hi-Beat movement, ensuring precise timekeeping with a daily deviation of +5 to -3 seconds and a power reserve of 55 hours. Each Grand Seiko is meticulously crafted by Takumi artisans in Japan to meet the brand's renowned standards of accuracy, resilience, and readability.

We are proud to offer free UK delivery on all orders placed on our website. Robert Gatward Jewellers currently only operates and supplies to the United Kingdom.
Orders placed before 12pm Tuesday – Friday will be dispatched the same day (stock permitting). Orders placed after 12pm on Friday through to Monday will be dispatched on Tuesday. If there is a specific day that you would like to receive your order, please let us know as soon as you have placed your order and we will try our best to accomodate.
Orders that total £100 or more will be posted using Royal Mail Special Delivery. Orders that total less than £100 will be posted using Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Delivery (1-2 working days). Although we cannot guarantee next day delivery with this service we have found that the majority of these orders arrive the next working day, in some cases including Saturday.
